Selected drawing views can be dimensioned automatically. This capability can be applied to the entire view or an area of the view. Automatic dimensioning can provide a quick start to annotating a view that may contain many dimensions that are logical. In some cases, the automatic dimensioning may provide more than desired amounts of dimensions that may need to be deleted by the user.

To Create Automatic Dimensions Of The Entire Selected View:

1. Select desired view to dimension.
2. Right-click on the view and select Auto Dimension -> Selected View.
3. This will activate the Automatic Dimension Command Bar as shown above.
4. Select the desired dimension type – Ordinate, Baseline, or Chain.
5. Select the desired location placement for the dimensions in the drop-down options and if radial/diameter dimensions should be created.
6. Select the origin location for the dimensions. Select a point or select two line segments that define the origin point location.
7. Select ok to complete the command.

Note: Use the Undo/Redo command if needed to change the variables used in the command.

To Create Automatic Dimensions Of The Selected Area Of A View:

1. Select desired view to dimension.
2. Right-click on the view and select Auto Dimension -> Area of View.
3. This will activate the Automatic Dimension Command Bar as shown above.
4. Within the View Border, left-click and drag a box to define the area of the view to dimension. Once this is performed, the Automatic Dimension Ribbon bar will be active.
5. Select the desired dimension type – Ordinate, Baseline, or Chain.
6. Select the desired location placement for the dimensions in the drop-down options and if radial/diameter dimensions should be created.
7. Select the origin location for the dimensions. Select a point or select two line segments that define the origin point location.
8. Select Ok to complete the command.
